Bullied At School

According to the 2015 Ontario Student Drug Use and Health Survey (OSDUHS), one-quarter (25% (21.0%, 29.7%)) of Simcoe Muskoka students (Grades 7 to 12) reported having been bullied at school in the past year, which was similar to the provincial average of 24% (21.5%, 25.8%). Female students and those with lower perceived socioeconomic status (SES) reported being bullied at school significantly more than did male students and those with higher perceived SES.

Cyberbullied

Also from the 2015 (OSDUHS), 22% (19.4%, 25.6%) of Simcoe Muskoka students (Grades 7 to 12) reported having been cyberbullied (i.e. electronically or over the internet) in the past year, which was similar to the provincial average of 20% (18.0%, 21.7%). Female students and those with lower perceived socioeconomic status (SES) reported being cyberbullied significantly more than did male students and those with higher perceived SES.

Bullied Others at School

Also from the 2015 (OSDUHS), 13% (10.1%, 16.4%) of Simcoe Muskoka students (Grades 7 to 12) reported bullying other students at school in the past year, which was the same as the provincial average of 13% (11.5%, 14.8%). Bullying others at school was not associated with grade, gender or perceived socioeconomic status.
