Smoking in the Workplace

According to Rapid Risk Factor Surveillance System (RRFSS):

• In 2006 (Jun-Dec), 89.5% (86.8%, 92.1%) of Simcoe Muskoka adults (18+ years) who work outside the home and indoors reported that their workplace was completely smoke free. These results are significantly better than 2005 (Jun-Dec), when 84% (81.8%, 86.2%) said that their workplace was 100% smoke free.
• Also in 2006 (Jun-Dec), 36% (31.9%, 40.3%) of workers (18+ years) reported that their workplace had a smoking cessation program available to help their employees quit smoking. 
• In 2006 (Jan-Dec), 90% (88.1%, 91.5%) of Simcoe Muskoka adults (18+ years) agreed that smoking should be banned in all enclosed workplaces in Ontario. This included 80% (77.7%, 82.2%) who strongly agreed.
