Population DensityAccording to the 2006 Census, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit boundary covers 8,731 square kilometers of land area and had a population of 479,767, resulting in a population density of 55 people per square kilometre. Simcoe County has a density of 87 people/km2, compared to 15 people/km2 that lives in the District of Muskoka. The population density in Simcoe County increased by 28% from 68 persons per square kilometer in 1996, to 87 people per square kilometer in 2006 while Muskoka's population density remained unchanged over the same ten year period.
