Population Count  

The boundary of the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit covers 8,731 square kilometres of land area. According to the 2006 Census, 479,767 people, or 55 people per square kilometre, were living in the service area of the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit. This included 422,204 people living in Simcoe County and 57,563 in the District of Muskoka. The City of Barrie, with a population of 128,430 people, was the municipality with the largest population in Simcoe County, while Huntsville, with a population of 18,280 residents, had the largest population in the District of Muskoka.
